Accept Believe Confess
‘A’ stands for ‘accept.’ We must accept that we are a sinner. All of us have broken God's Commandments. Everyone has broken at least one of the commandments. We all know of God's Ten Commandments, and we probably can name a few of them. When we break God's Commandments, that makes us a sinner, and we are all sinners. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” That sin in our life brings forth separation from God. We lose fellowship with God, and that fellowship needs to be restored. It can be restored by God's plan. We see God's plan in John 3:16 which says, “for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God loves us so much He doesn't want to be separated from us due to our sin. He made a way for us to be restored back to Him by sending His Son, Jesus, who paid the price for our sin. He died on the cross, but He conquered death, and rose from the grave.
The ‘B’ stands for ‘believe.’ What do we need to believe? We need to believe that God did send His Son to die in the cross for our sins. We need to believe that Jesus rose from the grave to give us everlasting life. The Apostle Paul wrote in Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you… will be saved.” John wrote about Jesus in John 1:12, "Yet to all who received Him, He gave the power to become sons of God, to those who believed in His name." Belief in what Jesus did for you is required to have a restored relationship with Him.
Finally, the ‘C’ is for ‘confess.’ The need to confess comes from Romans 10:9, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." After we accept that we are a sinner, and we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, we must confess that to God. We must tell God what we believe and why we believe. Jesus said, “I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes up to the father but by me” in John 14:6. The Apostle Paul wrote in Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you… will be saved.” So, if we truly believe in our heart, as Romans 10:9 says, we should confess with our mouth what we believe. Tell God that you believe on Jesus Christ as your Savior!
They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you and your household will be saved." Acts 16:31
